"Early music" is an umbrella term for all sorts of vocal and instrumental works. The label covers a lot of territory, from the Dark Ages to the 18th century and from Gregorian chant to the early symphony. This week, the D.C.-based women's vocal trio Eya (a Latin exclamation of joy) drew a sizable audience at downtown Washington's Church of the Epiphany, which sponsors free noon concerts every Tuesday.
